The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion (MFTP) advises all Maltese citizens travelling to the Philippines that an outbreak of measles is spreading across the Philippines, with more than 1500 cases of the disease and 26 deaths reported in recent weeks. The capital region Metro Manila has seen 441 cases with five death, while many other areas across the country have also been affected. They include parts of Luzon and Visyas, with some areas seeing staggering increases in the number of cases of the preventable disease. The Ministry advises travellers to the Philippines to take the necessary precautions and vaccinations.
